I am running windows 98 with IE5. I had to re-do some things on my computer, and I installed IE 5 back on. When I went in to internet exploere and the connection wizard popped up, I told it to not display it again. After that it froze up. I restarted and now I can't do crap. I go to pull up my computer, network neighborhood, explorer, etc. and the same thing happens: It comes up and says explorer will be shut down and the problem is in "MSHTML.DLL". After I click close on that, another window comes up saying that there is an error in IE, and internet explorer will close. I re-installed windows...didn't work. Somethin ain't right and I'm stumped! Thanks!

Hi acf01,
When reinstalling WindowsXX and IE it's best to let the Connection
Wizard run it's routine. Many Microsoft products have an initialize
process they run through when they are started for the first time
and some files are created as well as some linking to other files.
Some of these Microsoft initializings write to the registry as well.
If you ever find yourself running the install of WindowsXX or IE again
let all Wizards and popups run through the processes they want to
and try to avoid the urge to cancel them.
Now as far as your problem is concerned. All we have to go on is
what you stated above. It sounds like you have many programs that
are not operating properly. You can try replacing the MSHTML.DLL (http://dll.yaroslavl.ru/index.php3?in_char=M)
(as you stated it was one of the errors you received).
If problems continue I would suggest a full fdisk, format, reinstall
of WindowsXX and all device drivers, then update Windows from
the Start button or within IE's menu under Help.
