My system locks up constantly while using IE and netscape.However,the mouse still moves,yet everything else is frozen.
AMD duron 600mhz
FIC az11
384 RAM
geforce 2 32 mb
win 98se
IE 6
Netscape 6

Systems that run Win98 with IE and Netscape have been know
to have this freeze bug.
I realize some users use Netscape and do not want to use IE
but I would suggest removing Netscape with an uninstaller program
like Mcafee's Uninstaller (http://www.mcafee-at-home.com/products/uninstaller/default.asp?m=3). Then I would reinstall WindowsXX
and do Windows Update till I was at IE 5.5 SP2.

I will add I understand computer problems sometimes frustrate
users.
