My computer was running smooth for such a long time, and then one day I disabled my CD-Burner software from starting up, and then windows reacted very strangely. It reset my files back to my backups from so long ago, and as you can imagine, that messed everything up.

Now I can't get my CD-Burner back online, because I get some "VxD invalid call..." something. I've been searching everywhere for someone to help, but I can't find any. Can someone please work with me on this.

Thanks

Did your CD burner software have any Backup/Restore options for your Harddrive.
If so, disabling the software may have caused this.

Have you tried re-enabling the software on startup?

Yes I've tried to enable it again, but the thing is that when it reset my registry it also removed the command lines from my autoexec.bat and config.sys, so I couldn't tell what had been there before. Not only that, but the install disc I have for it doesn't work properly when I install it again. Something else I've done is download a new install from the manufacturer, but that is faulty and the page gives little help.

Do you know how to use mscdex? because I need to use it, but i have no experience...

Thanks

The easiest way would be to use a Windows98 Startup disk.

If you don't have one, you can create one through Windows or Download one: http://www.elitedatasystems.com/98bootpg.htm

If you can still access windows, goto
Start>Run>
type MSCONFIG
goto the Startup tab,
Unclick the CD software from running.

Also check Start>Programs>Startup
