Hi, I am trying to create a Bitmap using paint. After I draw the rectangles I want I click on the text button and then in the rectangle I want to insert text in but nothing shows. I click "View" and the text toolbar is shaded. The same in 98SE (my other rig). Am I doing something wrong? How do I fix it.
Thanks,
PERUNEY

Hi peruney,
When you clicked on the text button, you also have to click within the "picture area" in order to create the text box within which your text will appear. When you have clicked within the picture area, then Text Toolbar will be enabled in the View menu.

Hi, And thanks for the reply.Like I said before, after I create the box I click on the text button and then in the box (or the window ANYWHERE) and no text appears when I type. The view, text toolbar is shaded. I am following directions I got from the internet for creating a bitmap file. I dont know what else to try.

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Paint via Add/Remove Programs>Windows Setup tab? If not, give that a try.

If that doesn't work, you could try this registry edit (ensure that Paint is closed):

Navigate to:
HKEY CURRENT USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets

Ensure that Applets is expanded. Right-click on Paint then select Delete and click on Yes.

When you open Paint next, the registry key will be rebuilt.

Hi, That worked fine. When I run setup there wasent a check in paint.
Now it is working ok.
While I am here I have another problem with "Documents". I click start ,
scroll up to documents, when I get to documents (no click) it usually expands to my right showing a folder named MY Documents and below that My Pictures with a triangle pointing to right (different setup from standard) and auto expands to a droplist. I get to the triangle and click on either and NOTHING. Before I did a boot, scanreg/restore,it was ok. I still have a My Documents folder on desktop that opens with my documents and My Pictures but the slideshow feature that I had before is not there like in start. In regedit the value for My Pictures is 000. I miss the slideshow feature as I do a lot of digi foto and send them there for viewing. How do I repair it without a "wipe".
Thanks,
PERUNEY

Glad we got one problem solved :D

For the other one, try this (I think this is what you're wanting):
Start>Settings>Taskbar and Start Menu>Advanced tab
In the "Start menu and Taskbar" field at bottom, scroll to find "Expand My Pictures" and click in the checkbox beside it to place a checkmark there. Click on Apply then OK.

Hi, GretaP, thanks for the quick comeback. I am way ahead of you on that one.
I did a right click on my taskbar, properties, advance, checked expand , rebooted to be sure. Two days before this.
NO SOAP, so to say. Did nothing.
Thanks,
PERUNEY

:D OK I did it. There was to many things starting to change from normal so I did a wipeout. I backed everything to CD's and cleaned it out. Now I can relax.
It must have been something I DL'd that did it .I did a virus check, nuthin turned up.
Anyway thanks GretaP for the help. :thumb:
