Pesky Sony CDU926S CD-R Driver
Ok. Here's my situation:
I just installed a fresh copy of Win98 SE on a blank drive. I have a Adaptec AVA-2906 SCSI card. I also have a Sony external 2X SCSI cd burner (CDU926S). Windows detects the SCSI card just fine. But it detects my burner and puts it in "Other Devices". It shows the name (under Other Devices) as "Sony CD-R CDU926S". It has the exclamation mark next to it though. I was going to install Sony's CD Right! software but they only offer the 1.5 upgrade off of their site. And I don't have version 1.1 installed. Also, this is said at Sony's site: (at the bottom of http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/...rivers_2.html) "NOTE: If you have a Sony SCSI CD-ROM drive and it is attached to any other type of SCSI interface, you MUST contact the interface manufacturer for CD-ROM device drivers." So I thought I would need to go to Adaptec's site and download something. I searched all over their site and found no mention of my CDU926 burner. I've also updated the SCSI card drivers for my AVA-2906 to the latest version. And I've updated my ASPI layer to the latest version available from Adapatec.com. This cd burner has worked on this computer before I wiped the drive and reinstalled Win98. How can I get the driver from "Other Devices" to listed under "CDROM"? Where do I get the driver for my burner? Thank you, - dangermouse |
