Can't get Windows ME to boot normally
I just reformatted my comp. and re-installed Windows ME (everything installs fine) however Windows ME does not boot up. I get the following blue screen message:
An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C006115D in VxD VNETBIOS(01) + 00000B8D. This was called from 0028:C023F58B in VxD VMM(0C) + 0000058B. It may be possible to continue normally. * Press any key to attempt to continue. * Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. You will lose any unsaved information in all applications. Press any key to continue _ At this point my computer is locked up. It will boot in safe mode but with no CD-ROM support. I have no idea what to do. Can anybody help me? My Comp. Info. Dell Dimension 8100 Intel Pentium 4 Processor 1.50 GHz 1 GB RAM at 800 MHz NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra Graphics Card Let me know if you need any other information. Thank you. |

That's almost certainly a problem with your network adaptor driver. It's either not compatible with Windows ME, or has become corrupted. Was it an OEM version that came with your Dell computer, or did you add it later? If it came with your machine go to Dell's download website and locate the latest driver for your network card. If you added it, go to the website of the manufacturer and download the latest driver for your hardware. Make sure the driver is a WINDOWS ME driver!
