I have Windows ME and when I try to open the Network icon in Control Panel I get this error message: Your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to a .DLL file. Does anyone know what is causing this to happen and how I can fix it?
The reason why I want to open this is because my dun connection dialog box doesn't work right. The save password and connect automatically check boxes are grayed out and I can't use them.

Hi,
Go into /Add-Remove Programs/Windows Setup Tab/ and uncheck COMMUNICATIONS, hit APPLY and OK and then reboot. Go back in and re-check COMMUNICATIONS, hit APPLY and OK and then reboot again. If it still will not let you in RIGHT click My Computer and go to PROPERTIES then DEVICE MANAGER and remove the DIAL-UP ADAPTER and close everything and reboot, it should find it and reinstall it.
At that point you should be able to get into the NETWORK section in Control Panel, go in there and remove Client for MS Networks, hit OK then reboot and go back in and re-add it back in then reboot again, that should restore the SAVE PASSWORD check box option.

Does anyone know the name of all the dll files associated with the network tool in the control panel? I still can't get it to open for me it may be a missing or damaged dll file I really don't know for sure.

Hi jimb11,
I have merged your new topic with your previous thread.
I really don't know for sure what will resolve that problem, but the dll files that you may want to extract from the install CD or from the folder on your hard drive where the cab files are stored are Netdi.dll file and Netos.dll
If extracting those files to the C:\Windows\System folder doesn't resolve the issue, try extracting the file for the Network applet, which is Netcpl.cpl and is also in the C:\Windows\System folder.

Although this was written sometime ago it helped me out today.
