I seem to be having some weird startup problems with ME.

When I turn on my computer I see the COMPAQ sign and then the windows ME screen and then all of a sudden I get the NORMAL/LOGGED/SAFE MODE screen so I choose safe mode thinking there is a problem, after I choose Safe mode I get the infamous Blue screen that says:

While Initializing device VF backup
VF Backup could not load VFD.VXD please run setup again
System Halted

So I then shut my computer down and restart and I get the SAFE MODE screen again but this time I choose NORMAL. I then get the infamous Blue screen again that says:

While Initializing Device SHELL
Connot find or load required file KERNL 386.EXE
The file was not found
System Halted

Any advice of what to do would be great!!!!!!
THANX

Does this Microsoft article (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=150164) help any?

The Microsoft support Info is only for Windows 95, I run ME

I don't get a MSDOS pompt it just goes to that startup menu that includes SAFE MODE. I choose safe mode and then get the blue screen
