View Full Version : Javascript problems...

I like to think I'm fairly competent, but this one has
me stumped... Windows 98SE, with current security
patches, IE 5.5, and I recently ran adaware and SAD.

The situation is that on almost any web site that
uses javascript the system just ignores the javascript.
I've got (I think) all the scripting options tuned on,
but nothing happens?
Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting=enable
Microsoft VM
Java permissions=medium
Scripting
Active Scripting=enable
Scripting of Java applets=enable

Anynbody know how to reinstall the javascript engine?
I'd rather not do a reinstall of windows...

My test sites (where it doesn't work) are places like
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3251645/

Thanks in advance...

firewall? did the problem just start? if so did you install or upgraded anything recently? Are you talking about javascript or java?

>firewall?

I have an SMC Barricade between the DSL circuit
and the house 100mb ethernet LAN. Nice box,
even has a print server in it. The other 3 computers
in the house (win2k, and Win98) don't have the
problem.

>did the problem just start?

Nope. Been this way for several months.

>if so did you install or upgraded anything recently?
Not that I know of.

>Are you talking about javascript or java?

The functions that don't work seem to all be
javascript related. The web page I posted as
a sample (at www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3251645 ) has
a pictiure of a duck on it - and the picture links to
javascript. When I click on it there is no action at
all - like the click is not registered at all.
