Got a monitor (flat screen) The drivers for the monitor are installed and working properly. However, I cannot make the resolution larger then 640x480 and no more then 16 colors. How can I fix this?

Probably your VIDEO CARD drivers not the monitor.
Right click on "My Computer" then to Properties, then to Device Manager, click + sign next to Graphics.
Does it show something like Standard VGA, if so you will need to reinstall your Video Drivers
