Norton system works and AV were remved from the system on a Win 98 Toshiba laptop. Had to use the Norton removal tool to get it all out . Now the recycle bin still has the "N" on it and we cannot get it open to empty it. the following message comes up;
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in My Computer by clicking View and then Folder options"

I tried that but could not see any place to create an association.
I would like to get this thing operating "nomally". Any suggestions will be apprecaited.

This (http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=170) should show you how.

Thank you for the advice.
Unfortunately Norton had already been removed when this problem came up. Will try that registry fix anyway and see if that does the job. Will post back as to how I made out.

Would like to know how to fix that association though.

Well I bit the bullet and re-loaded Norton then removed Noton recycle bin protection and then uninstalled Norton.

So far so good, everything seems to benormal.
Thank you for the advice so far.
