Hmmm, saw a documentary on TV a little while ago about a similar episode at Heathrow. The gender was male on this occasion :D

An American returning home to Chicago and his hand luggage included a violin case. When asked what was in it, he said "a Machine Gun" and was most surprised when he was arrested and detained. The Brit's were a bit more lenient though. They fined him and let him go home the next day. His Airline (cant remember which one) refused to carry him though and he had to buy a new ticket and travel by Air India.
