This is on behalf of a friend who e-mailed me. He has in the toolbar and on the desktop 'xxxmpeg' and cant get rid of it. I'm assuming he's tried the obvious but cant be sure he's more novice than I am and thats saying something.Ta.

Hi,
it could be spyware or dialler , or just a llink.

Download Spybot - Search + Destroy:
http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/index1.php

Install Spybot, click on "Online" and then click on "Search for Updates".
Click on "Download Updates" and then click on " Install all Updates".
Close all Internet Explorer windows and click "Check for Problems".
When scan is finished, remove all entries in RED.

If Spybot asks to run on reboot, allow this.

Reboot computer.

Then ,
Go here to download HijackThis:
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt

Download "HijackThis" to a new folder, not a TEMP folder.

When HijackThis opens,click on "Scan".
When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press the "Save Log",,,, save the log to the download folder, and copy/paste the full,
entire log into this thread.

Do not edit, fix anything in the log unless advised....

Can you post back HijackThis log to this thread, please.

Cheers

Thanks Mike I'll pass on your instuctions to my friend. I'm not sure he will handle Spybot and hijack being quite new to all this. I might have put him off using Spybot because I had a few problems with it at first, I had to boot from a floppy every time I used it after getting help from AnnMarie we found that excluding Cdilla from the scan everything was fine. I told my friend that and it might have put him off using it. Anyway we'll see. Thanks for your time.
