unknown message??

Well the computer is now up and running..the thing is that when it reachs just before the windows screen comes up I get a message that says:
C:\>mode con code page prepare=((850) C:\window\command\ega.cpi)
mode prepare code page complete

What does this mean and should I be worried about it?

That error is a language keyboard error. I believe a UK one.

Check your autoexec.bat file and see if this line is there.

mode con codepage prepare=((850) c:\dos\ega.cpi) (850 = Codepage) mode con codepage select=850 ( 850 = Codepage)
keyb uk,,c:\dos\keyboard.sys

Also the config.sys file would look like this:

Device=c:\dos\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
Country=044,850,c:\dos\country.sys

This is what is written in my system:

mode con codepage prepare=((850) C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\ega.cpi)
mode con codepage select=850

device=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\display.sys con=(ega,,1)
Country=004,850,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\country.sys

Does this mean I will have to go and edit the files, from the msconfig screen?

The keyboard was bought at a local store, here in Edmonton,Alberta. Its a Elements keyboard made in China. Would that make a difference? Is getting rid of the message going to be all that difficult? How do I find out where the keyboard was made for?

I did not know there was a difference either However, for those who know, if you provide the keyboard brand and model, they could find out. The info should be on the bottom.

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | KEYBOARD

Double click, in there on one of the TABS it should tell you if it is setup for UK or US English.
