Give this a try first.....

With IE closed, go to Start>Run, and key in the following commands, one at a time, then clicking on OK or pressing ENTER key:

regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 comcat.dll
regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdoc401.dll

As you run each command, you'll (hopefully) get a message regarding the command being successful....click on OK in the message window.
When you've finished with all the above commands, restart your computer and see if that rectified the problem.

If that doesn't work, try this.....

D/load and run Mcrepair.exe
When it prompts for whether you want to overwrite the newer files, ensure that you click on Yes for each of the files.
Just in case you need to copy/paste the URL into the Address field in IE (as leaving a hyperlink probably won't work), here it is:
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...S/mcrepair.EXE
Right-click on the above link and select Copy Shortcut. Open a new browser window, right-click in the address field, then select Paste and hit ENTER or click on the "Go" button.
