I tried to install a windows update(internet explorer and internet tools) and it failed. Now everytime I reboot I get a message that it failed and to try again, which I have done 10 times with no luck!!!!! Could something be running that is preventing this update from being installed? Any suggestions??

Hi,
I have run into this before, go into the c:\Windows\Temp\ folder and delete everything, if it won't let you delete something reboot into Safe Mode and try again. Then go into the Control Panel and click on the INTERNET OPTIONS icon then click on DELETE FILES and DELETE COOKIES. Then empty the recycle bin, reboot, and try the Auto-Update again.
