I recently changed hard drives, the old one had windows 98 SE loaded. The old one played sounds all the time, however the new one, with windows 98 (not second edition), does not play wave files in certin applications, these being Quartz audio and RPG maker 2003. What is wrong and how do I fix this?

other info:

soundcard: Creative soundblaster Awe 64
misc: The 2 applications that dont play wave files back both have the Soundblaster AWE logo appear before the program is ran.

First off Welcome to CTH:)

I'd try reinstalling the sound drivers.
They can be found here:

With no help from anyone here I have fixed the problem. For those who have had this problem and are serching the net for ways to fix it, what you do is change your midi settings, if this doesn't fix it, run the dxsetup program where u can test direct x settings, then click on help and windows will guide you through possible solutions!

Hi problematic PC,
I'm glad that you found a solution to your dilemma. I have merged your new topic with your original one, as someone doing a search may not have connected your fix with the problem if they remained in separate threads.
