Win 98 starts to load
Im haveing the same problem i turn my coumputer on and it starts to load then just stops on the opening screen that says compaq so i flick it off at the switch and after maybe 5 times of that it lets me on but its anoying. i was wondering if there were any clever sugestions to aid me in my quest to be smarter than my coumputer

Welcome to CTH Isilwen. It might help if we can see what is running on your PC. Go here and download the latest version of Hijack This to a new folder on your drive, unzip it and run a scan. Most of the files listed will be harmless and/or required so do not make any changes, just click on Save Log, copy it and post it back in this thread.

Just a few minor thoughts...low in probability but always possible. In addition to the previous reply, check the back of the computer around the power supply and make sure it is not too hot to touch also Next time you turn it on, see if the power supply fan is working. Also any strange sounds from the harddrive?
