Hotmail and Outlook Express

Is it possible to hide the desktop icons for My Computer and Recycle Bin? We have set up a system with 2 levels of users and don't want those signing on as "Guest" and to have access to these features.

Hi Mary Ann,
I kinda did a double-take there, looking at your topic title and then reading your question.

Anyhow, I think that, using TweakUI, you can select the Desktop icons that you want to have displayed.

Another option is to hide all of the Desktop icons:

WINME: right-click on the Desktop, select Active Desktop>Show Web Content, then right-click on the Desktop again, select Active Desktop>Show Desktop icons (to deselect if there is a checkmark beside it)

WIN98: right-click on the Desktop, select Properties>Effects tab and then check the box beside "Hide icons when the desktop is viewed as a Web page", then click on Apply then OK. Next, right-click on Desktop again, select Active Desktop>View as Web Page

However, they could still access My Computer and Recycle Bin via Windows Explorer.

I haven't tried it yet, but intend to although we don't want to hide all desktop icons
