View Full Version : Second hard drive????

Windows ME
Duron 1.3
Asrock K7S8X Mobo
256mb ram

I am just testing a hard drive i have aquired but it is found in the bios as primary slave but ME doesnt see it. I have put the jumpers on slave and also cable select with the same result - not recognised in windows. I have tried a program which partitions and formats new drives bit it says its allready partitioned. I am just nosey and would like to see what is on it as that program will repartition and format it.
The drive is a FujitsuMP83021AT - its 2.1 gb..

Can you point me in the right direction or shall I just format it and put it in my 'spares' box !!!

Could be that it is not formatted as FAT/FAT32 in which WinME won't recognise it.

Boot from a startup disk and run FDISK.
choose 5. Change current fixed disk drive
then choose 4. Display partition information

Thanks for the reply, I think you are probably right that ME wouldn't see it but I was a bit impatient and repartitioned and formated it and it came up in My Computer straight away. The drive is in good working order with no bad sectors so I can either keep it as a spare or sell it on.
