Building my first computer. With no luck
850mhz. Duron processor
pc266 systemboard motherboard
30gig samsung HD
128mb ram pc133
200mhz front side bus
problem:
go into fdisk
1 create dos partition or logical dos drive (enter)
1 create primary dos partition
(enter)
? asks do wish to make maximum size (y,N)
(y)
then it says varifiing drive integrity 100%
then says must restart system for changes to take effect
I reboot and there is no partition defined
I also tried to just install windows 98 2nd edition and have windows format my HD and it says.
an error was detected while formatting your primary hard disk partition.
I also from dos Typed d:setup
and it told me.
cannot create a temporary directory
If you have hpfs or ntfs installed on your HD you will need to create an msdos boot partion to setup windows.

please help me very frustrated

Reading your post , everything seems OK , until you reboot . Leave your boot disk in & Format c:/u/c/s
When finshed , reboot to CD rom support & start your install from whatever drive your CD is on . John .

Hi there,

Are you double sure that the hard drive is setup correctly in CMOS.

There is a chance that it is a bad ribbon cable to the hard drive. There is also a chance that the hard drive is bad.
