When ever there is something in the 'Recycle Bin' and I right click> 'empty recycle bin', I receive the following error message: Error Deleting File - Cannot delete ___U: Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specified the correct path and file name.
How do I rectify the problem? Your assistance is much appreciated. James jhnel@europe.com

Hi James and welcome to Cyber Tech Help :)
Are you running Cleansweeps Fast & Safe ?
If so go into F&S / Safe Settings and uncheck everything and then retry.
If you aren't have a look at this MS article - MSkb Q136517 (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q136/5/17.asp) it has some good info on the recycle bin.
Also, you might like to try downloading this program PurgeIE (http://www.aandrc.com/purgeie/) it gives you a 14day free trial.
It's a handy prog for cleaning cookies, IE cache etc. but it also has a tool for cleaning out the recycle bin.
Another thing you might want to try is rebooting into MSDOS mode. Real DOS mode I mean. To do this restart your computer and hit F8 when you see the text "Starting Windows98" which you'll see just before the Windows splash screen appears.
You will then be given a menu. Pick start in DOS mode.
When you get to the C: prompt type the following ::
ATTRIB -r -s -h c:\recycled
DELTREE /Y c:\recycled
This will delete your recycle bin folder - this will then be recreated when you reboot your computer.
Having done this restart your computer and see if you can delete from the recycle bin.
Pls let us know how it goes,
MishY
