Anyone else reading this series? Any thoughts on Mr. Jordan's decision to stop the main series to release a quick three part prequel?
I can sum up my feelings in one word: Bastid!
Especially since "Crossroads of Twilight" was such a huge letdown since it doesn't get into what happened after Rand cleansed the source, or if he was successful in full, partially, or anything. It is only implied at the end of "Winter's Heart" and brief mention is made in "Crossroads of Twilight" that makes it seem he succeeded, but now, according to the article I read, we will have to wait until 2005 or 2006 before the followup to "Crossroads of Twilight."
Anyway, I just started book 1 of the prequel, "New Spring: The Novel" which is an expansion of "The New Spring" originally released as a short story in a book called "Legends" that I read about a year ago. I'm only on chapter 3 and so far it has already proven that it will be interesting and highly informational, but still, I'd have rather gotten all this after the main series is finished. The only thing I can think of is that somewhere in the prequel series we are going to get some info that may be vital to understanding something forthcoming as "The Wheel of Time" comes to a close.
