My friend just got a used Dell latitude CPx notebook.
The little fan in the back is not working. someone told me that it runs on thermostat. (when the CPU gets hot). does anyone know if this is true? The notebook runs fine. He never sees the fan turn on however. I can turn the fan (with a pencil ). It is not froze. ?? -Ikey |

Almost all laptop fans act just like the fan in a car, they come on when they need to. You might want to check in the CMOS/BIOS though for a setting that will allow the fan to be "always on" I believe some have this option, some don't.

Thats the way my laptop works also, so, imo there is nothing to worry about unless it gets too hot for the lap to handle.
