View Full Version : Overflow error? Is that an ME problem?

I'm not sure what is is. If someone could please tell me what it is or even better tell me how to fix it.

I cant help you on the overflow error but microsoft has a whole page on how to trouble shoot it so heres a link to that page I hope this helps

Thanks for the information. I usually get the error when booting the computer. It comes up before the Windows screen. It actual message is: Your program caused a divide overflow error. If problem persists, contact your proper vendor.
I don't know which program, therefore, I don't know who to contact. The error pops up occassionally, I usually just restore my computer to an earlier date and just cross my fingers.

this is what Microsoft says about overflow stacks:
Stacks are reserved memory that programs use for processing hardware events. A stack overflow occurs when there is not enough space in memory to run the hardware interrupt routines. Changing the "STACKS=" line in the Config.sys file, eliminating terminate-and-stay-resident program (TSRs), and eliminating hardware conflicts are all possible corrections for this problem.

When Windows delivers an error message related to an internal stack overflow, it is because there is not enough space in memory either set aside or available to handle the calls being made to the system hardware.

if you go to the above web site they tell you how to change a setting that should correct the problem.
