Computer Go Slow Mode

My Computer is a 2.4 gh Celeron..512 mb ram..40gb.HDD.OS is XP Home. I run two printers...Canon BJC4200 & Canon i865. After I have sent the item to printer I then go back to work on another program,but while the printer is running everything else seems to go very slow.This seems a bit odd to me . Also I am a little unhappy with the overall performance of Windows XP. My last computer had ME and this seemed much better.

Mate, you've posted this in a bit of a "back water" forum. Stick it in the XP or Hardware forums and see the responses flood in.

Sounds like some sort of print spool issue to me, I don't have the correct ref materials to hand, but if you post this on one of the mentioned forums you should get a fairly rapid and comprehensive result.Good luck.

Do you know if your printer is connected by parallel port or usb (Usb is really small and parallel is big and wide)?
