I am not a programmer, and confess to not being the smartest person in the world, or even in the top 95%. I was just wondering if a program could be made that would bounce back to the sender, to see if mail is returnable. If it isn't from a legit site it could be instantly deleted or blocked from sending.
Is this at all something that could be done or am I just having a wild thought?
Seems like with all the great programmers out there, something could be done.

Thanks for putting up with my ignorance.

There are programs that will bounce back to sender but there are problems with what you want to do. Bouncing mail to verify sender to distiquish between real and spam will not work at the user lever. Alot of spammers will spoof addresses of real individuals All you will accomplish is to send unwanted mail to the real address owners.

My best advise is to use a program called mailwasher (http://www.mailwasher.net/) or some other similar software. It will compare the mail you get with dns blacklist servers and delete those. You can look at your mail while it is still one the mail server and delete from there. You only download what you want.
