You have to go through Microsoft to legally get another copy of your 2k os. If you legally registered your original cd you should be able to get another copy at reduced cost.

Since members of this forum cannot verify that your serial numbers are legal, it is against the tos here to help you any further.

I can't help you with your lost Win 2k CD.. but I can tell you what I usually do.

First, I "ALWAYS" make a backup copy of all my CD's and store the originals in a safe place.. while I work off the copies.

Then I copy each CD to its own file/folder within one of my partitions.. this way if I don't have either CD readily available, I at least have access to it off the H.D. Remember though, you need to write you software S#'s in word pad and save it into the downloaded file.

Other than motherboard/hardware drivers, the other thing I do is to install all my programs into the same file/folder I copied the CD to. Here's a actual example of what I mean.

I copied the entire "Norton SystemWorks 2003" CD onto my "D" partition within a file I named "D:\Norton 2003".. and then installed it into that same file. That way if I need to access any part of that particular piece of software, I know right where it is.

Also, if something should happen to my OS I don't have to worry about re-installing all my software again.. only my OS. Once the OS is installed it's a simple thing to re-activate all my programs. I've done it this way for years.. and haven't had any problems using this system. Hope it works for you.

aces99What is the problem?
If your PC still has the OS then the install files can be found in the I386 folder.

The I386 folder will only be there if you had an OEM install of the OS or were smart enough to copy it there yourself. If you have the CD-KEY and have registered it I believe you can buy a replacement copy from MS for a nominal charge.

I thought 2000Pro automatically copied and stored the I386 folder during setup, just as XP does.
