should I buy new or Not?

I have a compaq presario thats about 4 years old, needs a hard drive,I have the quick-Restore cd's for win.98 s/e. will I be able to update all my drivers & so on, to be a so-so computer or should I buy new.

It will have old drivers and only for original hardware.
