Does anyone know of a web page that tells you what the things are that load when you startup? What's safe to disable? I used to have a page that did, but lost it when I reformated. I have Startup Cop, but I'm just not positive about everything. If anyone has any idea about this, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Tami

Hi ya Mishy!
LoadPowerProfile-?
SchedulingAgent-I know I can turn this off
StateMgr-if I decide to disable system restore it will turn this off
TrueVector-zone alarm, I want
MiniLog-ditto
hpfsched-something to do with the printer?
ScanRegistry-?
TaskMonitor-I think I can turn this off too
SystemTray-stays
Configsafe-stays
AEZBProc-something to do with IBM?
Adaptec DirectCD-I know I can turn this off
PCHealth-?
LoadPowerProfile-?
ICQ-I want
ZoneAlarm-I want
Reminder-I can turn this off
HawkEye IV Control Panel-another I can turn off
I'm running WindowsME now so some of those things, I'm sure have something to do with it. Like the system restore thing and PCHealth, although I don't know what that is yet. If it's something I can at least diable from the startup list? If it can be opened in Programs then I'm assuming it doesn't need to load at startup, right?
Thanks,
Tami

Hi Tammy,
Both the loadpowerprofiles ya should keep.
Scanregistry you should also keep.
Both of those are to do with windows and you should really keep.
Scheduling agent you can turn off in the program itself.
I'm going to move your topic to ME because I haven't used ME so I'll ask our ME experts to help you with the other few http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif

There`s nothing wrong with having lots of start up programs, so long as you have, as a general rule, 85% free resources after boot up.
To check, boot up then immediately run msconfig, click help> about system configuration utility, and there you will see your System resources.
Load power profile: Executes rundll 32...keep it.
PC Health: Connected with Sys Restore.
Dump ICQ...run it when you need it, you`ve seen how long it takes to execute in it`s own right, never mind alongside all of the other programs fighting to get in on the action too!
Do you run Zone Alarm or Zone Alarm Pro. The pro version is fine for ME, but I heard that ZA had some issues with ME if it was included in the start menu.
hpfsched: Could the sched be short for schedule? Look in msconfig again under start up folder and see what file it executes. Locate the file on your hard drive, right click it and choose properties, choose the right tab if available and this should list the file manufacturer. This should give you a clue as to where it comes from.

Hi again Geordie!
Well I just rebooted with 89% resources and that's not bad for me. As far as that hpfsched, all it says is 'win.ini' so I still am not sure about it. I run just ZoneAlarm and I haven't had any problems with it at all using ME. The only thing I ended up not loading at start up was ICQ and that AEZBProc. Before I did this reformat thing, my resources were going down way to fast, but maybe the format was for the better. Only time will tell.
Thanks again and again for your help! LOL
