If you are talking about Windows...sorry, all we can do it point you in the right direction on where to buy it.

If you simply need drivers we probably can find them for you free online.

If you don't know what you need please tell us more specifically what you are trying to do...are you reinstalling everything, how far have you gotten?

Well you will need an operating system...you most likely use Windows...that is not free and we can't give it to you, there is an alternative that is a little different and not compatible with a lot of things but it is free, it's called linux, would you be interested?

how does it work and do you think it will work on my dell computer and it is also possible to load a micrsoft office in linux?

if ever i can provide myself an OS for my dell computer can somebody help me in installing the software also somebody told me that im gonna need a driver for my dell optiplex gx1 motherboard.

i think i already have an idea on how to start the installation cause i read some articles on this site on how to partition, format, scan the harddrive.

You may want to look into calling dell and seeing if they can't replace your windows disk...if they have proof of you purchasing it they may be able to or give it to you really cheap.

The drivers you might be able to find here:
http://support.dell.com/filelib/crit...=us&l=en&s=gen

As for linux and Microsoft Office there are programs that are compatable, but not office itself...I'd say you are best to stick with windows.

Dell computers come with two software disks. One has the words "operating system" somewhere on it and may be called "Recovery" or "Restore." Use that one first.

The other is called "Resource" and contains all the drivers, including the system drivers. Use it after the operating system disk has finishing its job.

If you don't have either disk, call Dell to get replacements.

thank you for the adviced Miz, but my problem is that there is no dell representative on our place. this computer is brought by my friend somewhere in USA when she was working. by the way i already had a win98 OS and installed it on my computer. now my computer is working but i need a driver for my motherboard to let it work properly. i hope cybertechhelp can help me with this.

thank you,

ariel
