What is proper etiquette?

Hi. I recently opened up a board, (to do with my work), and lately, I've been finding all these fantastic macros and tips and posts, really incredible stuff, advanced Word and VB/VBA - at a forum I only just recently discovered. Naturally, I've already joined there and gotten some great stuff. Now, at this place, I've found macros that I want to post on my board! It's easy enough to link to posts on this board I found, but here are my questions:

1. Is it only proper to link to a direct post containing some awesome macro or other Word tip?

2. Or, since these codes were posted publicly, is it actually alright for me to pass along the code at my board, just saying perhaps where they came from?

I just would feel like a thief if I posted code, that's it, and acted like I just happened to have it, but at the same time, I hate for every cool thing to be a link to elsewhere! If you know what I mean!

However! In the meantime, I found some great links and I think I'm going to take a VBA online course that looks fantastico, so that maybe one day, I can come up with this stuff on my very own!

I would appreciate an answer, if anyone has an opinion.

I'd say link to the posts unless you ask the writers of the code.

Okay, enat. I think you're probably right! I actually have written to one of the people tonight to ask, it was so fantastic!

Thanks for answering!

I was gonna suggest writing to whoever, asking if you could use the links, although this may not be necesary since they are already links anyway!

I've done both - ask the poster if they mind me using their stuff, as well as saying "I got this tip from David G. over at Somewhere.com".

Thanks, you guys. I'm definitely just going to link to them, so that it will always be credited to the right place/person, and for the really great ones, I will ask the person as well, as you suggest, Zip.

Dang! You put "Somewhere over the Rainbow" in my head! I'll get you for that!
