I Recently Downloaded A Digital Photos Program Named "fxfoto" Onto My Compaq Presario Laptop. When I Opened The Program, It Locked Up. When I Rebooted, I Got The Message "operating System Not Found".

I Am Running 98 Se. The Cd-rom Is Recognized.

When I Booted To The Startup Disk, I Got Three Messages.
1. The Drive May Need To Be Partitioned.
2. You May Be Using Third-party Disk-partitioning Software.
3.some Viruses Also Cause Your Drice C To Not Register.
It Also Says The Dignostics Tools Were Successfully Loaded To Drive C.

When I Try To Run Setup From The Windows Cd, I Get The Message "cannot Creat A Temporary Directory". It Is Also Telling Me To Create A Boot Partition".

I Had Just Recently Reformatted The Laptop So I Don't Have Any Data To Worry About. The Format Command Generates A Message " Format Not Supported On Drive C:".

What Should I Do? I Seem To Be In A Room With No Doors!

As Wainui indicated good tutorials if you want to start over. But I am concerned that this happened when trying to execute this program. That is a legit program. When you downloaded, was it to a folder or the desktop?

Somehow the computer is not recognizing the hard drive, the program download could of been corrupt, or possible infected.

Try booting with the boot disk and type the following:

sys c: (hit <enter>) if it recognizes the drive it will transfer the system files, then try booting.

that command returns "invaild function". i can change to c: drive and type dir and get a directory listing.

Your BIOS is not seeing the Hard Drive. Reboot and get into BIOS (usually DEL key), then do an auto detect. Save and exit.
