Trying to re-establish wireless peer-to-peer with desktop and laptop. Computers were in storage several months. Can get both to see each other with net diag, but cannot ping each other, and client cannot, of course, access internet. (cable modem). Have tried ICS in all its forms, even Sygate cannot improve things. Cards are seeing each other and associating with other. What else can I try? Am using Win 98SE on host, Wim ME on laptop, USR wireless cards. All was fine before I moved. Thanks

Although late, I think this may be of some help anyway...

What wireless technology are you using? Both of them have at least one commom protocol installed?

Have you tried to ping the loopback address in both peers?

Already verified addressing/naming/domain conflicts? Laptops frequently have more than one network setting, in order to permit network use at different places (like at office and at home), could your laptop be using the wrong network profile?

Do not you have disabled resource sharing (e.g. internet connection, folder sharing and/or printers), do you?

Besides that, maybe some driver got corruption in the meantime (you know, all that billions micro-magnets on your harddrive surface... eventually one of them can become nasty). If this was the case, simply reinstalling will fix it.
