goofy, annoying problem...

I have this strange problem I've never seen before. it seems my computer "forgets" what its doing sometime. for example. I'm surfing the web, and after a while things on the page start getting messed up, like parts overlap eacother. I know its not the page itself but it is in the system for sure. everything comes back to normal if i make the window into a smaller window then it corrects itself. then i eventually have to make it smaller to display correctly. this same problem come up in windows media player. it will show a video, but not the features of the player, even tho it is open. AND also when viewing photo's in internet explorer. after a while, it just shows a blank screen instead of the picture. its either that or it goes white when i scroll. I dont get it.... I'd even reformated the whole machine I'm stumped.

could be system resources. with win98 you gotta reboot more often. next time it happens check your computer resources and see if it is below 30 percent.

also even though you said you reformated lets make sure there are no nasties on your computer, download, install in own folder, run and post the log from hijackthis (http://download.com.com/3000-8022-10227352.html?tag=lst-0-1) and someone will look at it and make sure there are no problems there.

it was at 42% this last time.... could dmaged ram cause this problem? I dont know what speed the ram is cuz its so cheap I dont have any documentation for it. anyhow it was on 266 for the longest time. I just cut it down to 200. seems to run a little smoother....
