Hi,

I keep getting application errors from various programs (example...iexplore.exe), but for the most part I get errors from svchost.exe. A similar error notification is:

Svchost.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "....." referenced memory at ".....". The memory could not be "read".
Click OK to terminate the program, click on Cancel to debug the program.

For no particular reason, this would pop up and screw up my entire computer. It happens when I'm online browsing through websites and what not. I don't think it's caused by any viruses or worms, because I've done several system scans (anti-virus software updated). I also did the FixBlast.exe just in case, but came up with nothing. I have also downloaded Service Pack 4 for my Windows 2k, including patches for the various worms out there.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware-related problem, but if anyone has any idea, I would appreciate your comments.

Have you found any answers yet? I'm having the same problem. I just got one of those messages from yahoo messenger after quitting, and also get the same message whenever I quit mIRC. Let me know what you find.

It's probably bad RAM or a corrupt hard drive. Try running chkdsk (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/chkdsk.mspx) and Memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/). BTW, this thread is over 2 years old. I doubt yaoherm50 is coming back...

Tested memory and it was fine. I guess surface scan is next......
