I NEED Help on this...
I have an HP 700 celeron with a Mitsumi cdr and WinME OS.

I recently installed Nero Burning ROM software only to get a message saying that I must uninstall DirectCD (Adaptec) or else problems may develope.

Being the hard-headed individual that I am I installed anyway and if problems surfaced, I would simply uninstall Nero.

Unfortunately I could no longer run my computer. I get the "Blue Screen of Death" Error message: 'Error:06:0028:0000000B' EVERY time the computer is started up and then im forced to reboot in an endless loop.
The system is unrecoverable after the blue screen.

I figured to simply restore the system back to factory specs without formatting as it preserves my files thinking all dlls, drivers, or whatever is causing this problem to desist. I have far too many files I CANNOT afford to simply just format and lose everything.

Unfortunately upon restating the computer, I get the same error anytime a CD-R or any cd is inserted regardless if its CD-Audio or Data.

I thought the culprit was once Adaptec so once again DirectCD and EZ CD Creator 4 were uninstalled.

The problem is still here I can however boot up the system normally and work fine and dandy but whenever i put a CD in the tray I get the same error message a few moments after the CD is read.

I cant even burn my much needed mp3s and files for preserving.

Am I destined to have to reformat and lose everything???!!!

SOMEONE HELP ME!!! PLEASE!! :(

Hi :)

have you popped along to their(Nero)site? they appear to have an extensive help section with details on the compatability problem you mentioned... it might be worth a shot if you haven't already done so :)

here's the directLINK (http://www.ahead.de/en/helptool/index.htm) have a look under the crashes and sytem hangups then computer crashes when cd inserted. Track your way through to page where it'll tell you about (and what to do) with the Direct CD blue screen on start up

all the best. Let us know how you get on :)

Thanks Kaz101 You kick ass!

At first I scoffed at the idea about going to the maunfactures web site.

"Like they'll even have the answer to 'my' problem" I said.

Well the remedy is quite simple (though Im not sure just how great a fix it is, it definitely gave me my cd-r back. I couldnt believe it when it played an audio cd without crashing.

According to Nero I must simply do away with a single driver in my IOSUBSYS folder in Windows/System called CPQDFVSD.VXD. and thats it!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction
my friend, Im going to burn all my data and reformat the entire system...its still a bit buggy but its quite alright to burn.
Factory Specs are aok for me(except for pain of reinstalling software) as long as I have my data.

Once again thanks for the reply, Im now content. heh heh :D
