Suddenly started to get IE Dial-Up Connection box coming up on my wife's PC whenever I click..My Computer, Explorer etc.

Also got new icon suddenly appear on Desktop called Network Neighborhood thay I can't get rid off.

Not had this until earlier today when W98SE suddenly detected new hardware although nothing had been installed. It installed Microsoft TV/Video Connection according to Device Manager.

Could it be related to my installing a Dazzle DVC 80 USB capture device earlier today?

Please help as the Dial-Up Connection is driving me mad!

Thanks

Most probably IE wanting to connect to update something.
Could be your Dazzle Registration or Windows Update etc.

Goto Internet Options>Tools>Connections>
Choose to Never Dial a Connection

Hi degsy

Thanks for the info, will take a look. Can you remind me for W98SE how I turn off Windows update?

Any ideas as to why Network Neighborhood & Microsoft TV/Video Connection should suddenly appear? What is the latter anyway?

You cannot disable the Internet Explorer Windows Update. It's just something that it does every so often.

Don't know why network neighbourhood has appeared.
If you're not on a network or using profiles then you should be able to remove it by going to Control Panel>Network
Problem is that i don't know your previous settings and what has changed to add the icon.

You can also remove it by using TweakUI.
I would recommend the TweakUI route.

The Microsoft TV/Video Connection has appeared because you have installed a Video device.
