video driver???

I just installed 98 on an hp pavilion "home pc" I cant get anyhting better than 16 colors and 640x480!!!! help?? I need some kind of driver.... but what one??
belarc advisor tell me:

Board: Asus CUW-AM/MEW-AM 2.06
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies LTD 2.07 03/06/01

and

Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) [Display adapter]
HP V50 [Monitor] (13.8"vis, s/n THTCI05412, February 2001)

I figured it out I got the driver from asus's site. my only problem left is the sound driver. I downloaded a driver but I cant seem to get it to work ??? plus the stupid thing dont have a model number on it anywhere. the next best thing is the mainboard number which I posted...

I did an internet search and I found a guy at an overclocking board that said he had your motherboard and a pavilion 6830. but at hp's site, there are 3 different version of that one.
