downloaded a copy of sureclean and removed it after the trial period. But it has left a desktop item/shortcut on the desktop. When I right click to remove, it will not allow...any ideas how to get rid?

Do a search for sureclean and delete all files, but I'm betting it has an entry in the registry.
When you right click on the shortcut then to Properties it should give the path where it is finding the program.

Removed it by reinstalling sureclean and then uninstalling the programme...simple. sometimes it's easier to do things yourself.
LittleMom, try www.webattack.com (http://www.webattack.com/) they have some disk cleaner tools which may help.
