Hi :)

what might be causing it is that straw is a bmp file and yosemite is a jpg. now frm the depths of my brain fluff (ie what I can remember without looking it up!) to run jpg wallpaper effectivly you need active desktop enabled and running properly so check your AD settings to see if it helps.

another thought to see if it is because it's jpg is to change yosemite to a bmp file to see if that fixes the problem.

ok i tried to chg the jpeg to bmp....picture got really distorted since it was a black and white to begin with!
now the other option....ok i do i check to see the active desktop is setup correctly(or how do i know its wrong). i right clicked on the desktop, and all i have checked is show web content. when i unclick that...the desktop completely goes away! uuughhh..let me switch it back..ah, better!
is somethign wrong here, or do i actually have the right setting?

Morning :)

I've changed yosemite to bmp if you want me to send it to you and the quality the same as jpeg but as with most bmp the file size is rather large ;) it's gone from 149kb to 770kb but if you want it let me know

by unchecking show web content your disabling AD... which in turn should revert your desktop back to the 'norm' thus loosing the yosemite wallpaper and returning your icons to the screen as you using an AD feature to hide your desktop.

If your wallpaper randomly resets on a restart then it could be due to a abnormal shutdown which upon restart will generally throw your desktop back to default settings thus turning off AD which is what you need to use a jpeg file for wallpaper and you'll end up with your previous wallpaper... a bmp.

hope it helps :)

one more thing to add....when i restart..a normal restart....it will show the jpeg, then when upon finishing the restart, it swithches back to my original setting for the yosemite.

I confuse me all the time too

I'll send the file to you now

right the confusion thing...
I've been trying reaaaally hard to curb my lengthy ways but it obviously isn't working for me ;)

Hidding your desktop Icons is a feature of Active Desktop (AD )so when you switch AD off (by unchecking Show Web Content) your icons should now be visible and you should loose your jpeg wallpaper (which you can only use with AD enabled) and you screen will revert to 'classic' which has your icons visible and a bmp wallpaper (if you have one selected)

I wasn't sure if this was what was happening when you said
when i unclick that...the desktop completely goes away!

If you disable Active Desktop (uncheck Show Web Content) and just have a std bmp background do you still have the same problem when it restarts... ie loads the previous desktop then the new one??

ok..i got it now.....what you just posted in your last post is exactly what happens.....if i unclick show web content...the jpeg is lost, and the icons reappear......when reactivating show web content, my orginal settings come back! this then is ok..right?
now it wont matter thanx to you sending my that file as a bmp!!!!! (again thanx!!!) :D
