Hi!
Iam using Intel P-4, 2.4GHZ processor, using Intel D865GBF motherboard. The default sound Drivers it uses is SoundMax
Integrated Digital Audio.
I have 2- Operating Systems (Windows 98, Windows XP Prof.).
since a last few days I am having a strange problem while
playing songsin any of the players (Winamp 3.0 , Realone,
Windows Media player 9)
The words of any song playing keep skipping It seems the
songs play at a speed higher than normal.
This happens only on Windows 98. The same songs play normally
in Windows XP. I tried reinstalling all the Driversas well as
all the media players but the problem persists. Please help me
as to how to solve this peculiar problem.
thanx.
Nitin.

Try to disable the sound card via the BIOS, and borrow a PCI sound card, install it, and see if it works. Also, even if it dosn't work, remove the PCI card, and enable the sound card again.

Remember to post back results, good or bad, others may need it.

Try knocking down the hardware acceleration.

Right-Click My Computer, then Properties, then the Performance tab, then the Graphics button.
Experiment with the Hardware Acceleration slider.

Have you installed any new hardware or software?

I think the another solution I saw was to reinstall the Graphics drivers and DirectX.

As suggested I disabled the Onboard sound and installed another PCI sound
card. The Problem remains the same even with a new card. I have removed
the PCI card and enabled the onboard sound (The onboard sound uses
SOUNDMAX drivers . Now what do I do . Please Help

You seem have eliminated the sound drivers, so try the suggestions in my previous post.
