Well... here's my situation. I have two computers. Im on the RUNNING one right now. My other isnt doing so well. It's got Windows 98, its a dell, and the original problem was the following....

Explorer
This program has performed an illegal operation
and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program
vendor.
If you click the Details button, the following information is displayed:
EXPLORER caused an invalid page fault in module EXPLORER.EXE at 0167:address

So, I cant start windows. Well, I encountered another problem. I dont have a floppy drive (A:). Which means I couldnt just make a boot disk on a floppy the easy way. I had to download a bootdisk and burn it on a CD with NERO. I did it all right. So... after all that's done, I put my "boot disk CD" in the drive of my old computer. I started my computer with CD-ROM support, and I figured everything was runnin smooth. But, it tells me some information, and then it says...

"PCI bus scan complete"

And thats it. It stops. Is it supposed to do something else? Did I screw something up. Can anyone tell me what to do? A step by step...

What is it that you're wanting to do once you get it booted up in some manner?

If you're wanting to reinstall Win98, the Dell Recovery CD does offer that option. It will let you reinstall Windows over the current installation as well as wipe the drive clean and start all over...unlike some other manufacturer's recovery CDs that only offer the option of wiping everything out before reinstalling the OS.

Just boot the computer up with the Dell Recovery CD (or whatever Dell named it that year. My Win98 Dell's CD is labeled "Dell Product Recovery CD," my Win2000 and XP Dells' CDs are labeled "Operating System Reinstallation.")
