It may be a problem with one of the running program not ending.
What programs are running when you try to shutdown?

w2k shutdown
usually on net or playing a game
i go to start shut down and then shut down but it just stays at my desktop and nothing what do i do aces99 Quote:

Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and check what programs are running.
It could be alot of Trial & Error to see if it is one of the programs causing the problem. Also see HOW TO: Troubleshoot Shutdown Problems in Windows 2000
