In Outlook Express, go to Tools>Options>Send tab and in the "Mail Sending Format" area click on the "HTML settings" button. Put a check mark in the box for "Send pictures with messages," click OK and OK again.
See if that fixes things.

Thanks everyone, I have tried the above, all except clicking on ok twice so I will give it another go.
Cheers.

Open a new mail message, and place your cursor in the body of the message.
On the Insert menu, click Picture, and then browse to the picture or graphic that you want to insert as an embedded file.
Click the file, click Open, and then click OK.
