problem with windows 98 please help

I have this problem i am trying to install windows 98 on a new hard drive it goes fine but when after a while running smoothly when i shut it down and start again . it says "parity check 1". and when I try to restart it it says " there was internal overflow of stacks , please change your stacks settings in Config.sys file and try again".
COuld anybody help me this is a machine i intend to use for internet only and its a pentium 2 processor with 64 ram.
