I have a Soyo p4i875 mobo that I want to flash. My question is that Soyo says there are 2 ways to do this. The one in question is that to create a Windows 98 boot disk which they provide a link, another link they provide is bootdisk.com which has all the various operating systems. Do I use windows 98 boot disk for this even though I have windows xp, or do I use Windows xp custom install disk? I got my bios update from www.soyo.com. Thank you.

You really need to follow the instructions that came with the bios flash closely. If you don't you could have a very expensive door stop. See this (http://www.pcmech.com/show/bios/81/) for additional info. If you have any questions about updating do not do it until you are sure.

Please provide a link to where you downloaded the flash update so we can look at it.

I second Renegade600's warnings but an answer to the specific question - yes you do need a Win98 bootdisk because the BIOS flash process is independent of the Operating System - all you are achieving is getting into a limited DOS which is what the Win98 bootdisk will give you.
