Lightbulb Way to copy .exe for later use?

Hi,
Last year I installed a program from a CD. It still runs fine, but my question is: I no longer have the original physical CD anymore - is there a way I can back-up/save/burn a CD of the program for later use in case of a system crash or want to re-install it on a different CPU?
(I have the key from when I original installed the program from the CD.)

Thanks in advance for any help !!

Maybe, maybe not.

There are some programs that only need the one .exe file to run.
There are some programs that will install all it's files into a single folder (c:\windows\program files\my program\)

But, most programs these days will have files & registry entries all over the place.

So, I guess I should just copy all the files and folders pertaining to the program and hope for the best ..(?)

most likely no because files will be scattered throughout the different directories including the windows directory. What is the name of the program? You may get a better answer if we know what program you want to copy.

The best way of protecting it is to back up the whole drive regularly.

The program is "Photoshop 5.5." w/ "Image Ready2.0"

I just backed up the whole "Photoshop" folder and pics folder...How do you "back up the whole drive regularly",,,,,burn a CD of "...."?

Both programs mentioned are scattered throughout the harddrive you cannot just save the directory.

As far as how to backup, check here for more info.
