Can't open excel

I sent an email with an attachment of an excel spread. The person got the attachment and filled in some info and emailed it back. He sent it back as a text doc which I now can't open! Any help?

Looks as though he's saved it as a text file.
What file extension is the file? .txt, .doc ???

Ask your friend to re-send it as a .XLS (Excel) file.
