turning off, my computer does

Howdy ho, I have this little problem where my computer will reset itself after about 2 1/2 hours of me playing games. I currently have the following setup on my computer:
Win2k
Intel 865PERL board
P4 2.5 ghz
Onboard sound card
52x sony cdrom
Sony floppydisk
Radeon 9800 pro
1 gig HyperX memory
4 (count 'em 4) case fans

My graphics card was overheating untill I placed the 4 fans in the machine, that no longer happens but I know my computer is getting really hot because it actually (and I'm not making this up) makes my room hotter then any other room in the house by atleast 10 degrees. If anyone has any suggestion as to what I can do to fix said problem I would be most grateful

computer out in the open, not inside of a computer desks shelf? Make sure there is good airflow around the computer. Also is the power supply fan working properly? Also you may need to come with something to check the tempeture of the computer to make sure it is not still overheating because heat will damage components.

I'm somewhat confused about your statement "My graphics card was overheating untill I placed the 4 fans in the machine..." Are these your case fans or 4 additional fans, like slot fans? If they are your case fans.... wow, you were running a P4 with no case fans?!

As for the rest, as renegade said, make sure it is in an area where it gets good air flow. Buy a can (or 2) of compressed air and give the innards a thorough cleaning. Arrange the wires as best you can up out of the middle of everything to further promote good air flow. A lot of people use electrical tape or whatever to bind them together so they're not so spread out over everything.

Also, some cases just don't promote good air flow. I had a cheap-o NorthStar case that was like that. No matter how many fans I added and no matter how much I tried to keep all the wires out of the way the box just kept overheating. I thought for sure it was the CPU fan/heatsink not doing it's job, but I decided to get a new case first just for the simple fact that I could not feel any air pulling in or pushing out through the 2 front fans of the case and the air in the back was blowing out very warm. I got a new case and my CPU temp dropped from running around 110F - 115F @ idle and 120F - 130F when in use to a steady 95F - 100F no matter what I'm doing (maybe 105F after a long gaming session).

The computer is under a computer desk, but the back of the computer desk is open so the computer is not against anything. As for the fans, no I had two in the case and then added two more. THe case I have is an AMG1080, its large and pretty much open, Power supply fans seem to be working well though it is blowing out lots of hot air (maybe cause its 430 watt?). Anyway any suggestions for good heatsinks/cooling devices?

Could be a power supply going bad, either not outputting enough power, or maybe overheating. Also make sure the inside is cleaned out (dust).
